You've never sailed before, but you think it's exciting and fun to learn? Then sailing a keelboat is the best and most fun boat to be learning the sailing tricks in!
Its good stability, minimal draught and wide beam make this type of keelboat the ideal boat for touring and instructions. Due to the sailing school's favourable location in the middle of the Frysian lake district, we are able to combine sailing and outings to lovely little towns, such as Woudsend and Sneek
The keelboat lessons include luffing up and bearing away and navigating bridges. The man overboard rescue turn is quite a spectacular move, whereas coming about and gyping will be a piece of cake at the end of the week! After Sunday's opening start, we're immediately off for the water. Your sailing lessons are from Monday to Thursday on the lakes in the vicinity of the sailing school Neptunus including a number of sailing trips. On Friday we'll all go on a longer cheerful daytrip which will give you the opportunity to put your week's experience to the test.
At the end of the week, you'll be awarded your certificate or progress report. These documents reflect all the skills that you have mastered which are then signed off by your instructor. Now you know what it means to be windward shore as well as lots of additional important sailing techniques in the course of 1 week!
The accommodation is truly special! The main building of the sailing school is housed in a former church. The church has been comfortably refurbished with a dining hall and kitchen for the evening meals on the first floor. The dorms all have 2, 3 or 4 bunkbeds, which means that you'll share the room with the kids of your age group. The older children sleep in ”Het Dorpshuis”, right across from the church. Are you coming with a friend and would you like to be in the same room? No problem! When you enrol you can indicate your wishes under particulars and we’ll take care of it.
